Yet Another Alice Fallen: Adventures in Disassociation

Author: Clair Itey, Itey,Clair Itey
Publisher: iUniverse
Category: Memoirs, Poetry By Individual Poets, Family & Relationships
Book Format: Paperback

Yet Another Alice Fallen: Adventures in Disassociation, Itey's follow-up to her first volume of poems, Substituting Dangers: A Journey with PTSD, once again explores the experience of repeated trauma. This time, Itey focuses on the phenomenon of disassociation - a physiological and psychological event where the mind and body seem to separate. Making the parallel with Lewis Carroll's classic tale of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Itey creates a word collage to capture her own experience of abuse and betrayal, and the resulting phenomenon of disassociating. Her own words are woven together with the experiences and wisdom of other writers, poets, philosophers, and Survivors.

In the prologue, she claims the identity of Alice - not Carroll's Alice - but a new fictional Alice that travels through the remnants of her fractured memories, and confronts the strained relationships with her family that result in the unearthing of these forbidden stories.

About Itey Clair Itey
Clair Itey published her first book of poetry, "Substituting Dangers: A Journey With PTSD "with iUniverse in 2009. While she still struggles with PTSD and episodes of disassociation, she hopes that her writing will be a catalyst for other PTSD survivors to give voice to their experiences, to begin to heal, and/or to reach out to others with care and compassion.
