The Wishing Wheelchair

The wishing wheelchair is children's and family 'feel good factor' story, aimed at thought provoking and inquiring minds. It covers subjects such as disability and sickle cell disease of which the main character has, due to being African. Lucy is the only one who can hear her interactive wheelchair, which more than just touch sensitive and state of the art, but it makes Lucy's wishes come true. She gets to travel to areas where she can gain a true essence of a place previously unreachable. She also gets to learn about technology used to make standing wheelchairs at the robot factory, and a visit to the environmentally friendly independent house of living. This makes Lucy realise that life can offer freedom. Parents and a dictionary might be needed for some of the longer words, yet the rest makes a playful read. But there are responsibilities that come with the fun and self discovery experiences with a spiritual vein that emerges in the story. This requires Lucy to conquer her fears, learn to give and become a proactive member of society. If this book was a film it would be the kind you would watch at Christmas or Easter that will make you laugh and cry, but hopefully leave you with something special. You might even go away and do something great yourself.
