Logan's Peak

It’s 1921 and Tom Bramble’s home is a remote valley settlement desolated by war. Yet, exploited by boys’ adventure novels, he dreams of heroic deeds and envies his older brothers—though neither returned from France. His father, an alcoholic embittered by their deaths, and his pragmatic mate, half-aboriginal Neddy, ignore Tom’s fantasies, until he is brutally put to the test. The district policeman in league with the church mission, a ruthless squatter and an American card sharp, on the run with his showgirl companion, will each throw down at Tom’s feet a bloody gauntlet. Should he fight or surrender? What is at stake? What price will he pay?
