Heartbreak Hotel Other Favorites - Hoyt Axton CD

The celebrated film and television actor and American country music singer/songwriter Hoyt Axton started out as a folksinger in the early 1960 s and blossomed into one of Americas most engaging country music songwriters and performers, with hits of his own performances and other artists covering his well crafted songs. Among his most popular compositions include "Joy to the World," the 1971 #1 hit for Three Dog Night; "The Pusher," covered by Steppenwolf on their debut album in 1968 and on the "Easy Rider" soundtrack in 1969; "The No-No Song," a hit for Ringo Starr in 1975 - and, blessed with a powerful voice, his own performances of his songs became hits as well: 1974 s "Boney Fingers," 1979 s "Delia And the Dealer" and many more. Presented here is Hoyt performing his own songs in his trademark earthy style, including all the major hits. All selections newly re-mastered.Additional Info: Though the mid-1960s folk-pop group We Five broke up in 1967, their several subsequent reformations produced some intriguingly eclectic releases. This set of pop songs from the late 1960s includes a peppy cover of George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun," an oddly raunchy version of Don Gibson's "Oh, Lonesome Me," a bluesy take on Dylan's "Tomorrow Is a Long Time," and, most authentically, their folky rendition of the Donovan title track, displaying both the band's versatility and its search for a meaningful musical direction.
