Throughout his childhood and during his twenty years of professional service in the New Zealand Army, author Michael J. Roberts repeatedly heard a message: grown men don't cry. To cope with life's ups and downs, Roberts put on a mask and effectively concealed his emotions behind it-that is, until he was diagnosed with cancer.
