The sound of Ether Aura can best be described as an eclectic blend of early 90s shoegaze, dark alt-country, dream pop, and garage rock - with dark, emotional themes, swirling guitar effects, ethereal vocals, and fuzz bass. Ether Auras Crash is a very solid outing, both energetic and emotive, with a handful of particularly exceptional tracks that warrant plenty of repeat play. Curve fans will either love them or, given the reaction of many Curve fans to Garbage, point out their similarities to Curve every chance they get. However, that said, Crash is a spectacular and dynamic alternative rock outing with heavy shoegazer and goth leanings thats certainly worth a listen. -Josh, Graveconcerns Webzine I like this a lot! Good old indie rock, reminiscent of Rose Chronicles with excellent female vocals and fuzzy guitars. The songs are well written and well recorded. The lyrics are interesting and varied. A lot of that reverberated distorted guitar sound that the indie bands are so fond of. I swear this is like a new Kristy Thrisk project, the voices are damn close. Theres really not much to say except that I really like this, and you will to if youre down with the indie rock thing. I thoroughly enjoyed all the tracks offered. I even like the name! About the Artist To trace the origin of the space-rock quartet Ether Aura we have to go back to April, 1993 and the formation of neo-goth rock group Caelum Bliss. Formed by instrumentalist/producer Tony Hamera, drummer William King, & vocalist Melissa Emily, Caelum Bliss took the Detroit underground by storm, gaining critical acclaim & gigging alongside artists such as Christian Death, Shadow Project, Chris Connelly & Placebo. Featuring lush, exotic instrumentation, Caelum Bliss went on to record several demos & a self-titled CD released in 1995. In 1999 they disbanded, its members branching out into other musical endeavors, most notably the electro-rock group Deathgirl. Led by Caelums core members Hamera, Emily, & King, Deathgirl released a self-titled CD and finally disbanded in the fall of 2001. In late 2003 the seeds of Ether Aura were being sown. Hamera, alongside neoteric vocalist phenom Katherine Hinote, began writing new music- opting for a more stripped-down, visceral style that features lush, airy guitars, fuzz-bass, & hazy atmospheres. The sound of Ether Aura can best be described as an eclectic blend of early 90s shoegaze, dark alt-country, dream pop, and garage rock. Rounding out this new incarnation is ex-Caelum/Deathgirl drummer William King & Sweatysuedelips front man Brett Haupt playing bass.Specifics
