New Orleans All Stars - Pete Fountain CD

Among the most famous of all New Orleans jazz musicians, clarinetist Pete Fountain exemplifies the Dixieland jazz style and was instrumental in making the sound famous throughout the world. Presented here is a vintage 1957 audiophile album featuring Pete leading his band through a classic set of New Orleans Dixieland standards. All selections have been newly remastered.Additional Info: Though the mid-1960s folk-pop group We Five broke up in 1967, their several subsequent reformations produced some intriguingly eclectic releases. This set of pop songs from the late 1960s includes a peppy cover of George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun," an oddly raunchy version of Don Gibson's "Oh, Lonesome Me," a bluesy take on Dylan's "Tomorrow Is a Long Time," and, most authentically, their folky rendition of the Donovan title track, displaying both the band's versatility and its search for a meaningful musical direction.
