A young staffer at a jewelry store in Tokyo's posh Ginza district wants to take his own life. Born in 1985 in Japan's Kanagawa Prefecture, by day Tomotake Ishikawa is a gainfully employed salaryman (office worker). In his spare time, including on his commute, he writes. When Gray Men won the Grand Prize for the second annual Golden Elephant Award he finally became a published author.



He cites among his influences the master storytellers of yore such as Alexandre Dumas.
